CSR

Oriflame and charity work

We have a large involvement in a number of charities dedicated to help young women and children around the world.

Oriflame’s founders started the Af Jochnick foundation in 2004 and are co-founders of The World Childhood Foundation. Through these organisations we are able to support several international as well as local help organisations.

How does Oriflame Cosmetics protect the environment?

Oriflame Cosmetics is committed to conducting its business in a manner which demonstrates respect for the environment.

As expected from Oriflame’s Natural Swedish heritage, all products are formulated and manufactured inline with high industry standards and ethical guidelines.  Our manufacturing sites operate in accordance to Good Environmental Practices (GEP) and in compliance with all relevant national and local regulations.

When formulating our products, we strive to use natural ingredients that are in line with our strong environmental policies, are derived from renewable plant sources, and are produced with minimum impact to the environment.

We were one of the first companies to utilise plant extracts in skin care products, and we have always tried to optimise the use of ingredients from renewable plant sources.

Oriflame does not use materials derived from protected or endangered flora and fauna species, or from environmentally sensitive areas.

Our foaming products (e.g. bath, shower and hair) are readily biodegradable.

We continuously monitor scientific reports on environmental issues to ensure that action can be taken to replace ingredients or packaging materials that may have negative impact on the environment.

It is Oriflame Cosmetics policy to utilise product packaging which has a minimum environmental impact.  PVC is no longer used and has been replaced by plastics that are more easily recyclable; the main material is identified on the packaging to aid recycling.  Oriflame strives to reduce waste by packaging products simply, while not compromising on product integrity.

Oriflame strives to use print material that has low negative impact on the environment.  Where possible, paper, including catalogues, is chlorine free (ECF – elemental chlorine free - or TCF – totally chlorine free), from sustainable forests, and utilising water based varnishes.

When transporting raw materials and finished products, load and packing are maximized, and where possible, rail and shipping are utilized for long haul.

Are surfactants used by Oriflame dangerous to the environment?

Surfactants are incorporated into cosmetic formulations primarily to lower surface tension and aid even distribution of the product during use, and, therefore, are used as cleansing agents. All primary surfactants used in Oriflame formulations are biodegradable.
